Tonight at work I catered a party for 40 zealous Alabama College football fans. Now I've never gotten very engrossed in sports in general, but football to me, has always been the worst. Watching the screen tonight though I really thought, Wow I could get into this, and realized I don't really hate football I hate football fans. Where in becoming a spectator in gladiator-like sporting events does it say you have to become so damn obnoxious? I can't see myself wearing ridiculous team colors, or chanting school mantras usually involving killing and slaughtering to some degree. I can't say I can favor one team very much over another though either. Tonight whenever the camera closed in on the faces and expressions of the players (and may I say Alabama and Texas have produced some FINE male specimens) I was swept up by the emotion you could see in these boys eyes. What was just a game to me was these boys whole lives, and it was overwhelmingly powerful to watch. So it seems I may have become a lil bit more of a sports fan tonight, and even though the fanatics can take things far too seriously and act obnoxious and utterly retarded, I think, Hey they probably think the same way of me at New York fashion week.
