She Works Hard for the Money..

So I know the last two days have been absolutely silent from me, but my god I have been working for what seems like FOREVER. Long hours at the film center doing back to back parties will have some great effect on my pocketbook, but right now all I'm feeling is the effect they've had on my body. I have never felt so old in my entire life but after a fourteen hour day in dress shoes everything below my waist is aching; and I do mean everything. I got home took my socks off and started to massage my feet tonight and I actually found bruises! Bruises! on both balls of my feet and the sides, ouch. Now for some of you out there who do manual labor for a living are probably thinking Pussy, but lets face it the acrobatics of the catering business aren't necessarily for the faint of heart either. To top it all off Friday I went and interviewed, and got a second job just doing basic waiting tables at a corporate place I won't name names right now, but later I'll probably will let slip. So for now it seems its nose, and ass, to the grindstone for me, but hey money talks.

I am Trying to be a Nice Person Damnnit

Tonight my bestie and I decided to have a few quick drinks with his new love interest. I know what you're thinking, Warning red flag, but really it was ok. Or at least things started that way. The love interest invited his best friend out to even the playing field, which I was fine with. We both share similar jobs and know some of the same people, and hit it off swimmingly at first; BUT as the night wore on this little 21 year old queen began to consistently try my patience. Not only was she rude towards my best friend's relationship, but had the nerve to play a religious card with me. REALLY? I don't think so. Young gay boys have a heap of learning to do from their gay superiors, pre-MTV gay is ok generation ilk. My knuckles were so white and my talons SO sharp by the end of the night that even my bestie's intended had to compliment me on my restraint.  Mark my words though boys, Fuck with me on a bad night and it's off with your head.

Needs Work

I really love blogs. I started following many years before the whole idea became popular. Many are interesting pieces of human expression I can hardly get enough of, and with the advent of user friendly providers like blogger I finally am experiencing the joy of developing this one, but I feel like there is so much more I could be doing. I look at many blogs and find that they have ways of displaying a multitude of the persons interest in links, banners, and pictures, but yet I'm having the hardest time figuring out how to add more delightful material to my own. If anyone out there has some pearls of wisdom on how I can display more content, such as art, music, fashion, and movies. I would greatly appreciate the advice.

Celebrations

Last night I missed posting because I was running around with my bestie. I had suggested we make no plans whatsoever and just get tin the car and act on instinct. So after a little window shopping at World Market, and a a quick nosh at Fridays, we ended up of all places at the bar, which is ironic because it was actually my friend's 7 month anniversary of sobriety. We really had a wonderful time, and I was so proud of him for adjusting to his new self. The night in itself was nothing spectacular to right about, but the fact that we were able to walk back over old familiar battlefields together made it feel like quite the accomplishment.

A New Day

Boy what a difference a day makes. After a few difficult weeks of being in doom and gloom mode I'm finally starting to see the sun again, both figuratively and literally. It was a beautiful day here in Shreveport, and while most of my day was indoors, I still feel like I enjoyed it. I think I'm finally over the last of the mini cold I had the last couple of days, in fact most people remarked that I seemed to look much better. I know this is partially due to the fact that I caught myself smiling once again. Now don't get me wrong I'm a very pleasant person and I don't go around with a sour face all day, but when you put on that public image that you like to show to the world the smile doesn't really have any joy behind it. It's more of a facade, a defense; opposed to when you have a genuine grin and are feeling happy. Now I often find that I can have a severe look on my face whenever I'm in my head and thinking, my eyebrows have a tendency to furrow, and my mouth closed naturally has a slightly pursed look. Today I was at work, I was all alone, and I was listening to music completely absorbed in what I was doing and I'm not sure how it dawned on me, but my face in it's completely relaxed and unconscious position, was smiling, and that single revelation had a tremendous effect on my entire day.

New Experience

Today was my first time to visit a professional psychic. She did a full natal chart reading for me and it was an experience like I'll never forget. The session lasted about an hour and was recorded. Listening to it all the second time around I gathered so much from it. I have to admit I have never been skeptical in the astrological or spiritual arts. I'm pretty open minded but today was so strangely affirming because I saw so much of the science of it. My psychic used several various charts and methods and yet over all it was more like she felt it. I'm sure it definitely depends on the quality of person you're dealing with in this field but if the opportunity comes about to have this type of reading I completely recommend it.

Valentines

No I don't have a Valentine myself today, in fact I think the last time I did there was a white democrat in the white house, but still I admire beauty in all it's forms and surely there is probably nothing more beautiful than the power of love. So here are some of my favorite romantic photographs to stir the heart. If you have a loved one this Valentines Day cherish that gift for all its worth.

Snow Day

WTF? It is snowing in Shreveport Louisiana, and not just a 10 minute flurry but snowing for hours all day long, not much but slush sticking to the ground but the houses, cars, and trees are layered with a fluffy coating. My work has been canceled for the rest of the day and I plan to go curl up with a book by the fire. Ah cest la vie.

Movie Night

Tonight we went to see A Single Man, starring Collin Firth and Julianne Moore. It was AMAZING a beautiful and skillful piece of cinema from director Tom Ford. Very seldom have I seen a movie with such subtle artistry and quiet depth. Firth plays a middle aged English professor in grief after the loss of his lover of 16 years played by stunningly gorgeous Matthew Goode. Set in the 1960s we're giving a glance back in time when homosexuality was a love that dare not speak it's name. I won't give any other details away because I want everyone that possibly reads this blog to try and see this film themselves. If this is the type of beauty we can expect from Tom Ford as a director though I want James Cameron to throw in the towel.

TUESDAY

I did it again, forgot to make a post yesterday, even when I had the time; guess I was preoccupied. What I really wanted to post yesterday were memories of  a very special friend that I found out just passed on Sunday from spinal meningitis; his name was Matt but we all called her Monica. I had the delight of knowing this person for a few years while he lived in Shreveport and unfortunately we had lost touch. He took me to my first Cher concert, and I think I had more fun then I would have had with anyone else. We got pulled over one time by the police for speeding, while were in drag, and the way he talked to the officer with his Lee press on stabbing the air in his face nearly got us arrested. She was a an absolute riot to be around, as if someone had taken the personalities of the Golden Girls, the Designing Women, and the cast of Steel Magnolias and balled it up in one person. More than anything else he was a genuinely warm and loving person and I will never forget him.

MAN MONDAY

Today I am back to the drawing board, literally. After a much needed rest I'm finally back in my super artistic mode. In the course of two nights I have churned out two sketches and the beginnings of a new painting. So in honor of creativity I'm posting some of my favorite sexy artists work for Man Monday.

Super Sunday

Today is the much awaited Super bowl 44 between the Saints and the Colts and while I probably won't catch much of the game myself I'll definitely be routing for the Saints, especially after my last few days in their wonderful city. So here's some athlete pics to put you in the sporty mood.

Night Out

Even though yesterday was wet, morning, noon, and night last night was full of the typical debauchery only the French Quarter can provide. P. and I made the rounds and met several friendly and interesting locals even capped it off with a new experience for the both of us, a trip to the strip bar, which I'll never forget (can you say dick slapped)!

A WET day in New Orleans

Half past 10 and my shoes are already filling up with water. Its a rainy day in New Orleans and I'm learning fast that a rainy day in Nola means wet up to the shins. First stop on the agenda for my friend P. and I is some cheap rain gear at the local Walgreens, then on to breakfast at an indoor Cafe' Du Monde inside the mall. Today we planed  to hit the aquarium, the zoo, and whatever other attraction we could get to, but unless we're traveling by speed boat today is going to be a long wet day. Ironically enough our driest option is to spend it underwater with the wonders of the New Orleans Aquarium.

Nawlins

Ok after a day of driving through east Mississippi my friend and I have finally arrived in the big easy. Staying at a locally gay owned and operated bed & breakfast called the Lions Inn on Chartes Ave. Quaint comfortable cottage-like accommodations with a friendly staff and beautiful recreation area. I highly recommend. Eating dinner tonight at The Crescent City Brewery and perusing the quarter for awhile. Love this town.

VACATION

Pretty much forgot to mention that I'm leaving tomorrow for a few days in New Orleans!!! So keep an eye out for upcoming photos from what is sure to be a memorable trip.

MAN MONDAY

Today seemed somewhat discouraging. Stress over work, money, love, and friendship had left me feeling slightly wrung out. At least its Man Monday. Posting this delicious eye candy for you always puts a smile on my face and a lil stiffness in the shorts. Enjoy.
